Frequently asked questions:
- The conversion of my
file failed. What's wrong?
We support so many source formats that there can be a lot of reasons why the conversion has failed. For example: The source file is corrupt; the source file has been encrypted with Digital Rights Management (DRM) of the owner; Some codecs inside a file format container that is normally working can't be converted; the converter does not recognize the source format at all.
- How do I extend or move
the selected region into other tracks?
A selection is always shown on the Timeline, but the selection only exists in a track when that track is selected. For example, you may want to extend the selected region up or down into more than one track, which lets you edit the selection in all those tracks at the same time. To make that selection display in other tracks, you have to change which tracks are selected.
- What is the maximum
recording length?
Audacity does not restrict the maximum recording length beyond some specific technical and practical limitations. Recording takes space on your drive so you can only record while the drive still has space available. The theoretical maximum recording time is a mere 58 billion hours for the default 44100 Hz Project Rate, or some 6.6 million years.
- What special care should
be taken to ensure proper conversion of excel file into PDF
format?
In case of excel work-sheet, please set the print area and do the necessary formatting in the Page Setup option of Excel, so that the Page Preview shows the page formatting, in the exact manner, in which you want. After this, save the document and upload it for conversion. The PDF output file, will have the same page-setup. Please note that, in case you do not do the page formatting before uploading, the PDF conversion software will do the formatting itself, whereby there could be a possibility of the contents getting split into multiple pages.
- I have recovered a file,
but I cannot open it. What should I do?
In some cases, files recovered cannot be opened properly. Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Power Point) files and large files such as MPEG files often run into this problem. Please consider the following points:
Damaged Files: After a file is deleted, it could be damaged by another file, overwriting, disk defragmentation, virus attack, or hacking activity. Fragmented File: Some large files are saved in discrete locations because they cannot be allocated in contiguous Hard Disk space. When one of these files is deleted, the recovery can be very difficult. - Can I burn a disc using
an existing ISO image?
An ISO image is a file that contains all the information necessary to duplicate the contents of a disc. You can't create a disc from an ISO image using Windows, but there are disc burning programs available with this ability.
- How does VAIS Driver
Backup work?
The software shows you a list of recommended or all the drivers Windows depends on. You can then create a backup file with all these drivers. In case there are any problems with your computer in the future, you can restore these drivers so you don't have to search for each hardware provider's CD.
- If I just want to back
up the DVD to the hard disk, which is the best format that can
obtain a smaller size while remaining a relatively good quality?
Basically, the quality and the file size are interrelated. There is no absolute choice because the quality and the file size vary accordingly. If you just want to back up the DVD to the computer, AVI is suggested. Because the default values of AVI can provide a relatively good quality as well as smaller output size.
- Why do shredding system
files not remove all the selected files?
Windows Operating System and many other applications that are open will be constantly using various system files. Since the files are in use and locked, they cannot be modified by other applications.
- Why do I need to convert
image formats?
Many image formats are native to one specific graphics application and are not offered as an export option in other software, due to proprietary considerations. An example of this is Adobe Photoshop's native PSD-format (Prevention of Significant Deterioration), which cannot be opened in less sophisticated programs for image viewing or editing, such as Microsoft Paint. Most image editing software is capable of importing and exporting in a variety of formats though, and a number of dedicated image converters exist.
- My images contain text,
but the results are not very good?
For best results, use high resolution documents. If the document contains color fonts or background, try uploading a black and white version. However, if you think your image is good enough to get usable results you can email use your image and we'll try to improve the results.
- I cleaned my computer
but why is my computer still so slow on startup?
Startup includes the time it takes to load Windows and start any other scheduled programs. If your PC is taking longer at startup than it used to, it may be that there are too many programs scheduled to run at that time. There are a few items which are important and should always run at startup. These include various Windows processes, anti-virus and other security software and programs that you use every day.
- Why do I need to clean
registry?
Because when you install an application, new registry entries will be created. These entries should automatically be deleted when you uninstall the application. Unfortunately, it does not always work that way. Sometimes, you will find that some applications fail to remove their own registry entries. These entries then become obsolete. Over time, the Windows Registry begins to hold data that are invalid and obsolete. This invalid data eventually accumulates in the Registry, slowing Windows down, compromising PC performance and causing other problems. So, to keep your computer in top performance, it is recommended that you periodically clean your Windows registry.
- Why I can't copy text
in the page?
Please make sure the following two cases: See if the file has permission security allowing no copy on it. See if it's an image or scanned file. The Select Text tool will select nothing to copy if there contains not text in the page.
- Why the output Excel
XLS form is not 100% same as the original PDF form?
VAIS PDF to Excel Converter analyses the original PDF file every row and column, however many PDF forms are not standard, so the output Excel XLS form is NOT 100% same as the form in PDF. But we are still working on it and do our best to make improvement in every upgrade version.
- Why do we need to convert
PDF to HTML?
Even though the PDF is great for posting reading documents like manuals on a website, it can sometimes annoy and even deter your viewers. Public or shared computers may not have a PDF viewer installed or downloading a PDF might not agree with a user’s browsing habits. In order to make material in a PDF more accessible to others, converting your PDF to HTML file may be an alternative to consider.
- What is the advantage
of using VAIS PDF to Image Converter over an online service?
The reasons are security, speed, and size! With online services, you need to upload all your files to a server, which at times may not have the necessary security features in place to protect confidential PDF or JPG/JPEG documents. With a desktop application such as VAIS PDF to Image Converter, every part of the conversion is done right on your computer with no file size restrictions or security issues. Since you do not require an internet connection, the conversion process will be much faster than an online conversion service.
- Does VAIS PDF to Word
Converter support all the PDF files?
Almost yes. The program can open Adobe PDF 1.0 - 1.6. That includes 95+% PDF files downloaded from the internet as my tests. If you can not open a PDF file with this program, please contact us.
- What ringtone format
does this program support and what mobile phone brand or type
is it compatible with?
This ringtone maker supports converting music to ringtones in MP3, WAV, M4R, M4A, OGG and AMR formats which are highly compatible with Nokia, Motorola, iPhone, Gphone, Sony Ericsson, BlackBerry, HTC, or just about any other mobile phone type or brand.
- What is the best resolution
to use for scanning PDF?
200dpi (dots per inch) is fine for most documents but if you have very small print then 300dpi might be better. Any higher will slow scanning down and produce huge PDF files.
- What is frame rate and
how does it work?
Frame rate is the number of still frames displayed per second or FPS. This defines how many pictures (frames) per second a video file contains. The lower the frame rate, the longer you can record and smaller video file it will make. For video/motion recording, we recommend 8-12 fps and for demo instructions, 3-10 fps.
- I have burned my slideshow
to DVD, but my DVD player won't play it. Can you help?
There may be several reasons. The burning drive or the player might be at fault. Besides, some codecs may be not supported by your DVD player. If you normally have no difficulties burning and playing DVDs, try the following way: in the Create DVD Slideshow dialog, choose the option Create DVD folders. Burn these folders to DVD using your standard burner.
- How do I speed up the
conversion of my files?
Conversion speed is dependent upon the length of the source file as well as the configuration of your computer. Another factor would be the output settings you have chosen, as the higher output formatting will take longer due to the increased settings. It is recommended to quit all unnecessary programs on your computer before you start the conversion, as the process is also very processer intensive.
- Can I join several videos
in different formats?
Yes, of course. You can load video files with different formats and output them as a whole one. Besides, the videos of different resolutions can be merged.
- How long can I record
a video at one time?
It depends on your hard disk space. VAIS Webcam Capture doesn't have limit of the video time record. But still, it is not suggested making a video too long as a super-size video is hard to be loaded to many other editor or player programs.
- Why does a download
from YouTube start fast then slow down?
TThis is controlled by YouTube. YouTube servers send data more quickly when you start playing a video, then it slows down. This makes for a smooth video playing experience when watching online, while reducing the network capacity required to serve videos to its users.
